How a US-based Construction Company used a portal and app to be more transparent and be ready for audits
1. Background
One of the US’ leading commercial general contractors and construction companies. With 100+ employees, they specialize in highways, universities, and similar constructions.
2. Requirement
The company needed a web application that would allow different aspects of their business:
- Manage construction activities throughout the whole project lifecycle: procurement, engaging sub-contractors, submitting Request for Information (RFI) documents, and working on change
- Have stronger reporting features
- Can be shared with partners for specific engagements
- Monitor and share accurate, detailed and timely information about the activities
3. Approach
As the canvas for this project was broad, the first step was to understand what features and functionalities we wanted to include in the portal and app. This requirements gathering included understanding the solution’s primary and secondary goals. As the stakeholders were an extensive and varied group, communicating with them was key.
We created prototypes and wireframes that explained the layouts and communication flow of the solution. These were sent with support documents to help non-technical stakeholders understand how the solution would work. We also spent considerable time iterating on the UI/ UX features to ensure that the dashboards captured the critical information. Also, we incorporated feedback on making our dashboards more intuitive.

1. Background:
Clients are leading contractors in the infrastructure space and cater to the country’s leading construction companies. With 200+ employees, they had multiple branches and specialized in constructing highways and bridges.
2. Requirement:
To manage and track operations efficiently, the company needed a web-based application that would:
- Allow them to manage all the stages of the construction activities: project planning, estimation, setting up networks and other aspects of system administration, procurement, engaging with sub-contractors, and more.

3. Approach
As the budget was a constraint with the client, our team worked with the stakeholders to identify the core modules to focus on. The goal was to create the absolutely essential modules that would take care of most of the operations.
Our technical team researched open-source options where possible and discussed the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of several options with the customer. We also worked on streamlining operations and iterations.
